19/01/2012 — Session Cancellation
We have been informed that the venue at King Ethelbert School is not available on the 26th January.
Therefore the Academy will be closed to all grades on Thursday the 26th January.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

16/01/2012— Important Notice
Having reviewed the attendance at the Marlowe Academy over the past 12 months, it has been decided that the facility and its present structure appears not to be suitable for our members. We have therefore decided to close this venue until further notice.

Announcements - 2011

15/12/2011
We, the UCT, would like to take this opportunity to wish all our Members a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year...not forgetting the parents who support us through the year especially. We feel the under 11 years would not find it possible to participate without a commitment from parents. 
We would like to thank all the Black Belt Degrees, who give up their training time to help others in their personal journeys, without this input, it would be extremely difficult to produce the quality of student which is associated with the UCT.

We will be returning back to training on the 5th January 2012.

03/12/11 — Squad Training
Just to let all students who may be interested in competing next year that the Squad Sessions have been a huge success and will be carried forward to 2012, thanks to all the students who have supported this over 2011.

30/11/11 — Student Personnel Training Equipment
You may or may not be aware that all equipment used for the purpose of martial arts training must meet the industry minimum standard requirement, which is strongly adhered to by the UCT.

If any student or parent would like information regards these requirements, please ask an Instructor.
The reason for this posting is to avoid disappointment for students who may have gifts bought for Christmas with all good intentions, which will unfortunately not be allowed for use at UCT training venues for the reasons mentioned above.

This Year the last training session at the King Ethelbert Academy will be on
Thursday the 15th December 2011
We will resume training on
Thursday the 05th January 2012

Please Note that: Saturday 03rd December, will be the last Squad Session before the Xmas break.
Any member wishing to book a place will be required to book his or her place in advance via one of their Instructors thx.

Well done to all the students who continue to make the effort to attend the squad sessions held at the Ramsgate Sports Centre, as we have targeted March 2012 to break into the competition circuit once again, the progress of individual performances is superb and is without doubt a direct result of having the likes of Mr N Gardner and Mr A Gardner to work with on a regular basis.

Requirements for participation : All Members will be expected to have full sparring equipment, which includes mouth guards and groin protectors, these items can be ordered via your Instructor if not currently owned, we will apply a certain amount of flexibility for the first month, however after this time, if you do not have this equipment then you will not be able to attend, no exceptions

 

07/11/11 — Thanet College
The current classes have been reviewed and will be undergoing changes in its delivery.
Mr Yalim will be working closely with Thanet College to establish and increase the member participation of Thanet College Students, we have no doubts this will be an astounding success.

Today Mr N Gardner delivered a (Self Defence Awareness Class) for Thanet College, assisted by Mr Yalim and Ms Scott. The class went extremely well and we have been asked (funding available) to deliver similar sessions in the future. We would like to extend our thanks to Natasha Hart (Enrichment Team Leader) and look forward to working together again in the near future.

08/10/11 — Squad Session.

Well done to all the students who made the effort to attend the first squad session held at the Ramsgate Sports Centre, well done keep it going, we have targeted March 2012 to break into the competition circuit once again. Looking at the individual performances on saturday the future looks bright.

Competition Focus Sessions:  Due to repeated requests over the last few months, it has been decided that we will be holding Competition Focused Sparring Squad Sessions at the Ramsgate Sports Centre, the details of the first session is set out below:

16/09/11 —  UKTU Update
As you may or may not be aware, UCTKD and Spirit TKD are both founder members of the UKTU.
We have now been informed that the UKTU are officially recognised by ITF England as a Member Organisation.
Please refer to this link for all Member Organisations. http://www.itf-england.co.uk/members.htm
The UKTU and their licensed Members are therefore eligible for selection to compete and represent ITF England at World and European Championships.

We have been approached recently and asked if we would be interested in competing within the WKA format, we would appreciate feedback on this issue to gauge the amount of interest this may generate from our members.

There will be grading at the King Ethelbert Academy on Thursday 29th September for Seniors, Juniors and 4-11 yrs, this is in addition to the grading which took place on Monday 12th September.

07/09/11 — Important Notice TKD
To all members, the Executive Committee have decide to introduce a new format for member grading applications, this will come into practice on the 3rd October, you will be required to fill out a Student Grading Application Form, this form can be obtained from the reception desk, once completed and the relevant fee enclosed, the Form needs to be handed back no later than 1 week prior to the proposed grading date.

Due to the unforeseen August timetable disruptions, it has been decided that there will be a "catch up" grading which will be held on Monday 12th September for 4-6 year olds and 7-11 year olds, this will be conducted and integrated within the normal training session. .... Please Note; This is not a replacement for the grading held on the Thursday 29th September at the Academy.

To all members, could you please remember that if you wish to give payments to an Instructor, it must be in an envelope, with your Name and a brief description as to what the payment relates to, Instructors cannot take any payments in future unless in this format.

To all Senior and Junior Members could you please insure that on arrival at the Academy you proceed directly after signing in onto the Dojang practice area, please be mindful that we have limited space and the reception area needs to be kept clear.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all members that we have a complementary designated area for parents and spectators, this area is not to be used for changing or storing any items, all TKD equipment, bags and other items need to placed in the changing rooms, these areas must be kept clear for Health and Safety Requirements thank you for your cooperation.

A special thank you to Mr Mark Peachy & Mr Wood who turned up to assist Mr Nick Gardner this Bank Holiday Monday, you will be happy to know that the sessions are back to normal as from Thursday the 1st September.

It is with great sadness that it falls to us to inform our members that we have lost a great friend and Taekwondoist in Master Zusa, who passed away recently, we would like to extend our sympathy to Master Zusa's family and friends and we feel that everyone who had the pleasure of Master Zusa's company, would agree, he was a great human being and will be greatly missed by us all.

Well done to all the students who made the effort to attend the class last night at Acol, the next session will be on the Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, there will be a grading as usual, all those intending to grade please inform your Instructor prior to attendance so the appropriate paper work can be raised, thx.

There appears to be some confusion regards the training times at King Ethelbert Academy
King Ethelbert Academy is closed for maintenance till 1st September, there is no training available on any Monday or Thursday at the King Ethelbert Academy till we resume on Thursday 1st September.
There is however training available which as been arranged for the dates below:
Monday 22nd August at Acol Village Hall

Monday 29th August at Acol Village Hall, which will include a grading for certain members.
Class times are as normal

Well done to all the guys who made the session last night, different type of session but like the old days, small hall, hot, not a lot of room to move and a great time had by all....
Next session on Monday the 22nd at the same venue.

09/08/11 —  Temporary Training Venue
Due to maintenance works being carried out at the Birchington Academy, an alternative venue is available as set out below:
Monday 15th August.
Monday 22nd August.
Monday 29th August ..............(A Grading will be held as normal) The times will be the normal club training times.

Class Times will resume as normal on Thursday 1st September.

05/08/11 —  Birchington Martial Arts Academy 2 week Closure
We are sorry to inform you that the classes in Birchington are going to be temporarily closed for 2 weeks whilst some maintenance work to the facilities are undertaken. Maintenance will start on Monday the 15th August, the Birchington Academy will be closed,
it will re-open on
Thursday 1st September.
